What started as simply feeding a few dogs soon became something much deeper.
Every day, I began noticing the same pattern — animals struggling, not because they were meant to live like that, but because no one was there in time.
Some were hungry. Some were injured. Most were simply… forgotten.
And slowly, it became clear: Feeding alone was not enough.
That realization is what led to the beginning of DeSAC.
Delhi Stray Animal Care Foundation (DeSAC) is a community-led initiative working on the ground to rescue, treat, and care for animals across Delhi.
Our work focuses not just on immediate help, but on creating long-term change — ensuring animals are not left to suffer the same cycle again and again.
Harbani, the founder of DeSAC, started this journey not as an organisation — but as an individual who simply couldn’t walk away.
What began with feeding a few dogs slowly turned into a deeper commitment — to not just help, but to take responsibility for lives that had no one else.
Today, DeSAC reflects that same belief: that real change begins when someone chooses to stay.
Our work is not just about helping in the moment.
It is about changing what their lives look like — permanently.
Because real impact does not come from temporary relief, it comes from prevention, consistency, and responsibility.
